22nd November 1914 (Sunday)
Kept awake with rheumatism. Went round the Fort of Ste. Adresse. A splendid view of Le Havre, the Harbour, Ste. Adresse and the high hill opposite with the Signal Station was obtained. (he was a keen photographer). This must be a very pretty walk in summer. Ste. Adresse lies snug between the hills facing the circular sweep of the bay. The houses and churches look very trim and those perched on the steep slopes very picturesque.
