17th September 1914

Sent to Base (leaves Front) by Major McDougall and Captain Darling.
Ambulance wagon, motor lorry. Felt extremely bad after motor lorry journey in heavy rain, had several fits of shivering.  Long wait at BRENY station, given hot bovril and crowded into a room strewn with straw, place crammed with sick and wounded.  Sent down rail in trucks.
